Food Review's
May 2026 Miller & Carter

Welcome to our first ever restaurant review.  This month we review Glasgow's finest steak house Miller & Carter.  We visited on a busy Saturday night at the end of April, party of three critics, various ages.   We arrived at 6pm and while we waited order a few drinks.  As our wait time was over 20 minutes the restaurant kindly waivered the pre-dinner drinks.  The restaurant itself was grand and decadent and the location very central, just off Buchanan Street.

Our drinks were an apple spritz, which is a  bubbly cocktail combining apple flavours with sparkling wine (Prosecco), and mixed with Aperol for a bittersweet twist.  This was the first time trying this and as none of us are fan's of Prosecco, it wasn't to our taste.  The presentation was on point.  My drink was a large Southern Comfort with diet coke and it was served with crushed ice, a slice of lime and in a tall glass.  The third drink was a bog standard coke.

Tow of us started off the with calamari, crispy squid with lemon dip and  which was delicious and not too chewy as it sometimes is.  I chose the chicken as a main which came drizzled with Madeira & shallot jus, crispy sage, triple-cooked chunky chips, green beans, served with creamy béarnaise sauce on the side.  The chicken was cooked well and not to dry and the chip's were not to my taste but that was my fault as I should have requested mash. (I ended up stealing skinny chips from one of the other guest's as their steak came with two potions of chips each).

The other 2 guests chose the Chateaubriand 16oz (GF), the 30 day aged Chateaubriand was deliciously soft and tender.  It came with a variety of sides.  The guests were extremely satisfied and one would have been enough for two people even though they ordered a steak each. Prices were reasonable for a steak house.  We didn't order dessert as we were all too full.

Overall: out of 5 for the max.

atmosphere and location:  5

Service: 5 (the girl was very friendly and pleasant)

Final comments:  A lovely evening out with relaxing surroundings so will be back.
